Essential Bartender Resume Tips To Land The Interview!

The point of the Bartender Resume is to get your foot in the door so you can get an interview at the establishment of choice. The problem is, sooo many potential bartenders (especially in this economic climate) are literally throwing their resumes at managers and they end up collecting dust in a big stack in the office. YOU need to differentiate yourself from the competition so you can WOW your manager and get the interview!
Creating your bartender resume needs to have a value and importance with each part. Basically, there are essential parts that you should fill in before submitting it to your employer.
The Objective
The objective may just be the first thing your hiring manager reads. Tell them exactly what position you are applying for and WHY. As a bartender, you need to have an objective which direct the needs of 1.)Customer(how you can serve them) 2.) Employer 3.) Yourself as a bartender.
Personal Information
Your personal information has great value within your bartender resume. You need to have the detailed and honest information about yourself. This may just be the magic ingredient that separates you from the competition. What makes you special or unique? WHY should the hiring manager choose you?
Experience
Collect your bartending experience in respective manner from the latest to the oldest job that you had. You don't have to list EVERY job you ever had, just the impressive and relevant ones. When listing your experiences from your previous job, make sure not to just put the date that you started and ended your job. Put some information of the companies development regarding your involvement. Describe and quantify your job description as much as possible. With these way, the bartender employer will see your worth and how you can be useful to his/her company.
Bartending Skills
There IS a difference between Experience and Skills. Skills can be obtained through experience. Include skills not just your physical attainment like alcoholic drinks mixing but also skills that matter about your inner self development. Counting money, working P.O.S. machines, dealing with customers, etc are ALL skills!

Highly Effective Cover Letters For Your Bartender Resume
If you want to get a bartending job, you must get your bartender resume read. Unfortunately, a lot of effort is spent by job-seekers on writing a resume, but they usually ignore the cover letter completely. Your cover letter will have the most important role when applying for a bartending job. The employer will first look over your cover letter, and if he doesn't see anything interesting, the whole resume gets ignored - however great it was.

Functional verses chronological resume- Marketing Manager Seeking Position, Denver Metro, CO
I did what some say you shouldn't, I wrote a functional resume. I am told that it appears that you have something to hide when you approach a resume this way. Well, I don't have anything to hide but I do have lots to share. I want prospective employers to know exactly what some of my major accomplishments were while at the companies I worked for. I want them to see in that fabulous 30 second window, "What's in it for them." I think this is better accomplished with the functional resume.

Get your RSA Online, follow our tips ... and shine!
Let's face it, bartending is a pretty cool job! Mixing drinks, sliding suavely from one end of the bar to the other, being a ready ear for lonely guys and girls alike. If you're good with people, have a decent level of self-confidence and can handle a fast-paced work environment and challenges, you could be a great bartender. Today we check out some top tips for landing a bartending job, whether you have experience or not - everything from getting your RSA online to pulling off a fantastic interview.
Complete Your RSA Course Online
Having the basics in place is an essential step on the road to getting a job as a bartender. If you haven't completed an RSA course online, don't stress - you can complete it in little more than half a day, at a massive range of flexible times. Good providers will allow you to download your certificate instantly once you've completed the requirements for the RSA online - so there's no need to watch the perfect job just float past!
Consider a Bartending Course
Bartending courses often take only about four weeks to complete. Your bartending course may incorporate completing your RSA course online. An added bonus of bartending schools is that they often have work placement services, and your teachers serve as contacts into the industry. If you shine in the classroom, you might just have a ready-made job at the end of it!
Should I Make Up References?
This practice seems to be sadly common in the bartending world. Naturally, it's not advisable ... you'll end up with a poor reputation if you are either found to be lying in your interview, or you get the job but then can't perform the main duties to the standard your employer expects.
Tell a Story in Your Cover
Letter Use real-life examples, your job progressions and stories from previous experience to illustrate why you would make a great employee. There could be two dozen people all going for the same job as you, each saying that they're "Highly experienced, dedicated to their work, and have a fantastic attitude". Tell a story to get your cover letter noticed, and use the solid credentials of an RSA course online to back up that story in your resume.
Remember That It's About Attitude, Not Experience
Not Experience Experience is always fabulous. But in the hospitality industry, most managers know that attitude goes much further than experience does - somebody who's been a terrible bartender for 10 years is obviously less desirable than someone who's freshly completed their RSA course online, but is positive and ready to serve customers. If you don't have any on-the-job experience, remember this in your interview and stress your personality factors.
Offer an Unpaid Trial
Managers are always worried that the person they hire will be the one that interviews well and is convincing ... but doesn't have the work ethic to back it up. You can allay your potential employer's worries by offering to complete an unpaid trial shift, with no obligations. Get the basics in place by completing your RSA course online, then let them see you in action ... you'll be mixing Bloody Marys before you know it!

More Tips For Bartenders
This article is a continuation of Bartending Pro Tips Part 1: How to Make Money and Have Fun With a Career In Bartending
8. If there is trouble or violence try, at all costs, to avoid coming out from behind the bar. Raise your voice and attempt to take control verbally, while you are dialing 911. Many bars do not provide security. A personal friend of mine came out from behind the bar and hit an assailant with a full bar bottle since the assault was against a woman. That bartender (who owned the bar) is still in prison not because the bad guy died days later, but because the bartender "came out from behind the bar."
9. Tip jars are sort of an optional thing, depending on the type of bar. If you follow the sort of relationship-building techniques I have suggested, then when your customer is cashing out it should be a face-to-face, handshake-to-handshake experience They are a lot more likely to deal with you fairly (maybe show off a little bit too) than if they can sneak a few quarters and a dime into a tip jar when you are busy. If you have waiter and waitress staff, one surly server can easily cost you a considerable amount, and that is only if you ever even see their tips. Tip and bar/service accounts should, in my opinion, be kept separate and are in many establishments.
10. That naturally brings me to keeping the other staff happy! Their ability to make money has to do with how well the drinks are made and how quickly they can deliver them, so there is a delicate balance between your bar customers and the table customers. Keep an eye on your own customers, and try to anticipate when they might need another drink. Take care of it, in advance, and if you you are filling table orders (very important) always acknowledge your bar customers and let them know that you noticed. Assure them that their drink is coming right up!
11. Even if it is not within your job description, help the table staff clean up and flip the chairs. Support them any way you can. The only time I would ever advise coming out from behind the bar would be in defense of the staff, and, even then, yell loudly, several times (to staff mostly), for someone to call 911. They will need to know that they have your support (even in if your place of employment has bouncers), so just always do what you can to protect their sense of having a good place to work because, in spite of all your efforts to provide a fun atmosphere for your customers, unhappy staff can detract from that.
12. When you have time, spend time talking with your customers. Don't sit on a stool sipping a coke and obviously trying to find some time alone, even if you are "on break." You can be on break at home. Talk news, talk about local folks and interesting places, but more importantly try and get them talking about what is important to them. They aren't in a library, they are in a bar, and maybe they want to talk, a lot more than be talked to. It's easy to walk away when you get busy; they can wait and, if they can't, start gauging their intoxication level.
13. Thank every customer for having spent their time there with you and, if possible, shake their hand. That sort of thing means a lot to people and will keep them coming back. Look them in the eye, particularly when they are cashing out. (Tip Time)
14. If that moment isn't available, because you are otherwise involved, when you see them rise to leave (and you are sure the bill is cleared), just yell over your shoulder "Hey (name) thanks! Be careful and come back, OK?"
15. Study any bartender's book on mixed libations carefully, but it's just as important to watch your co-workers mix drinks. It is a craft that can be learned from experience. If anyone requests a drink that might be from their local area, or by a name you are not familiar with, don't be ashamed to say "Hey, I don't know it but I'll make it right now. Teach me!" They will usually be proud to.
Some bars are just crazy some nights, or are just always that way, and you might be one of four or five bartenders with very little time to employ some of these techniques, especially with loud music or live bands. I know, I have worked in them as well but, even so, you will have brief moments when you can utilize these suggestions and, believe me, they will pay off. Even with multiple and busy bartending situations, customers will seek you out, try to sit near where you are working and, when you aren't working, they will ask when you are going to be working next.
By the way, once you have a "following," changing jobs is easy!
Bartending is a fun, interesting and lively job! I have made up to ,000 a year bartending as a second job!
Find a place you enjoy living, a bar you like and ENJOY work for a change!

Bartending Tips To Make You A Great Bartender

Bartending Tips To Make You A Great Bartender
If you want to be a great bartender, then you have to have the knowledge and skill that the job requires. Bartending is a very rewarding career, but it is also very demanding. A bartender must keep their customers and themselves happy with the service that they provide.
No one likes to be around a bartender who gives poor service. There are certain things that a bartender has to do to keep ahead of the game. Knowing drinks and how to prepare them is one of the most important things to learn. In this article are several bartending tips that will help you along in your quest to be a great barkeep.
One of the most important things is to know your drinks! It is very disappointing to go to a bar and realize that the bartender doesn't know how to make your favorite cocktail! As a bartender, you should be extremely familiar with all things about bartending. There are several bartending books out there that list drink after drink.
Grab a few of them and read them whenever you have a spare moment. Use the internet as well. Knowing how to prepare a rare drink by heart is sure to make your bartending skills a hit! Know your glassware! This may seem crazy but the glass you use for your mixed drinks truly does matter. Part of the excitement of ordering a martini is getting it in the signature glass!
After you know the basics, the best bartending tips are all about the methods used to make drinks. One of these is how to accurately stir a drink before it is served. This requires a stirring spoon, or a stirring stick and a mixing glass.
You should pour your ingredients into the mixing glass and stir in a clockwise motion, slowly. After you have stirred, pour the mixture over the cold ice. Using this technique should accurately and smoothly mix drinks to your customer's wishes.
A wonderful piece of advice for pouring a drink is about building it, and with some drinks, creating layers may be required; first with ice, then any spices, then with the alcohol. It seems so simple but even the simplest tips can create the highest level of service!
Anyone, at any stage of bartending, or anyone looking to hone a particular skill, can benefit from bartending tips. The important thing is to remain open to advice and take opportunities to improve your skills wherever they might arise.
The internet is one of the best sources for information about bartending, but bookstores, and even flair bartenders possess a wealth of knowledge that you may have never discovered before. Learning new styles of bartending, or new drinks to make, can all help you on your bartending quest.
Learn more bartending tips from Mike Selvon's portal, and leave a comment at our cocktails blog.
Professional Tips On Becoming A Better Bartender

Professional Tips On Becoming A Better Bartender
New bartenders often hear the words "Bartender License: and get nervous or confused. The truth is, you don't need any license to become a bartender (you just need a job that says you are a bartender!)
Bartending Schools will promise you a "Bartender Certificate" but they really can't do much in the way of getting you a job (expect giving you endless job postings). You can learn a lot and gain a ton of confidence at a Bartending School, but there are plenty of tips (such as service and personality) that can't ever be taught at a school.
So here's a little list of professional tips that will help you become a better bartender.
1. Acknowledge all new customers as they approach the bar. Even if you are swamped, a quick nod or smile will ease a restless (and thirsty) mind. Establish rapport when welcoming customers and introduce yourself as though you already knew them. When the opportunity arises, introduce yourself and ask their names. Remember their faces and drinks that they order. With this manner, people love you because they feel that they are important to you and you had shown them how friendly you are.
2. Prepare some JOKES or stories! Storytelling is POWERFUL! Start entertaining your customers with some little jokes or stories. Keep them interesting but also politically correct! Doing your job as a bartender is entertaining specially when you can create or share some jokes to your customers. Choose jokes that are applicable to anyone. Jokes that talks nothing about religion, politics and other related terms which people may ignite their defensive thoughts.
3. Prepare the drinks well and deliver them quick. Speed is of the essence! If What customers want is having the taste of the drinks that they are looking for and a fast service. They came to you because they want to have their desired drinks. So be prepared for the drinks recipes and make sure to have the ability to memorize and master trendy drinks mixes to be able you to serve them fast. If you are swamped and customers have to wait, here is all you need to do: 1. Acknowledge them. 2. Hussle and work at 100% effort. 3. Apologize for the delay with a big smile.
4. Warm handshake when customer exits. As the customers finished and about to exit, give them a warm thank you and a hand shake them to let them feel they are always important and pleasing customers to you.
5. Eliminate Hesitation. Know your drink recipes! If a customer throws out a crazy made-up name, don't worry, just ask them what's in it, what color it is, and what it tastes like. Always have a mixing guide at your disposal but do your best to never ever need it!
6. Keep personal hygiene. This is important. Have a clean look. Be presentable and make sure you don't smell bad. Have mints nearby at all time. Bartenders are always part of bar's atmosphere so your personal attributes and appearance does matter.
These are a few of the many tips and techniques that any veteran bartender will share with you. The important thing to realize is that the true skills of bartending go far beyond mixing and memorizing. It is about the CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE and the service you provide for them! Work hard and always have a smile on your face and you can never do wrong!

Top Four bartender tips
Being a bartender is more then just a job, itâs a lifestyle. If taken seriously itâs a great way to network with people and develop your social interaction skills. With respect to life insurance bartenders are considered to be among the highest risk of the working class. With so many possibilities in the leisure industry itâs never been as easy as it is today to develop a career initiating from the back of the bar. Itâs also a great way to work and enjoy yourself on a Friday night without spending to much money. Now to the good stuff, what makes a bartender great?
Appearance
As a barman you are the first line of interaction between the respective bar and its clients. When clientele walk into the bar their first impression of you must be heâs clean. This means maintaining your entire presentation from hair, nails, shaving to brushing your teeth. You don't have to be clean but then youâll never really make good money from it.
Fight Back
That doesn't mean knock the man out of his seat when he hassles you for a drink. It means learn to think quickly, out the box. Learn to take the occasional chirp and more so how to throw them back at people. Your clientele will love you for it and a great way to impress women. Its about being a peoples person, will take time but the end result will be make it worth it. This doesn't mean you must be rude because you cant it just means learn to dish it out cause you will have to learn to take it. Never forget to be polite; people will love you for it.
Spin It
Looking good is easy, looking good while being stylish is priceless. As a bartender you should be able to spin bottles. Itâs very easy to learn just takes time and lots of practice. Start by getting a few empty bottles from work and then just playing around with them. Then when you reach a level of comfort in terms of spinning a bottle in your hand for neat tricks fill the empty bottle with water. Itâs much cheaper to break and doesn't smell as bad. Learning this technique will take time but no more then six months and trust me when I say you wonât regret it. If nothing else you should have cool party tricks to show your friends.
Work hard
It goes without saying that working hard should be mandatory with every job but more so as a bartender. When a large part of the money you take home is the tips you receive you'll find more people will tip when they see youâre trying your best. Its difficult lifestyle not one many people can cope with but if you succeed then the sky is the limit in terms of what you can achieve.
Now all thatâs stopping you is getting off your lounge and earning quick money while having fun and meeting people.
