Providing Good Bartending Service Requires Training
The bar you love is probably where you unwind after a stressful day at work. Your friendly bartender, with the amazing bartending service he provides, helps you throw off all your cares and worries. A lot of this ability comes from the bartender's skill, not just at mixing a superb cocktail but also at listening to what you have to say. A poor bartender will only add to your stress, not ease it. Bartending is a lot like being an artist; it takes a lot of skill to be any good.
Reputed bars and pubs the world over attribute much of their success to the quality and unique brand of their bartending services. Primarily, good bartending is the outcome of a sound training program, which was designed to impart knowledge in the mixing and serving of drinks. However, the range of drinks any particular bar offers will depend on the skill and experience of the barman or female bartender.
This service is offered by numerous catering establishments and also for special occasions - hotels, restaurants, bars, pubs, banquets, clubs, private parties or wedding receptions and even by many reputed airlines. Drinks mixed by bartenders range from those based on internationally recognized, mixed drink recipes and names, to the ones created exclusively by a resident bartender.
In many cases, the bartender must be skilled enough to create a drink based on the specific requests of patrons. There are special bartending training programs offered by several bartending schools or institutions and even by some reputed hotels around the world. Tending bar is a specialized profession and skilled bartenders are much sought after.
One of the main parts of a good bartending service is how well the bartender treats the customer. He or she should be sociable and friendly with each patron sitting at the bar. The bartender is the physical example of the relationship between the customer and the establishment.
In other words, the bartender is the public relations officer for his or her place of work. The barkeep has many other tasks as well, some of which include: knowing the alcohol in stock, knowing how to make all the drinks offered, keeping the bar supplied, and keeping track of the money spent at the bar. Knowledge of how to run the bar equipment is also a must.
The most important thing for a bartender to remember is to keep things clean. A professionally conducted bartending service is one of the greatest assets an establishment can have. When you next visit a bar or club, and while you're there enjoying yourself and having a few drinks, give the bartender a nod, because it's his skill and art that enables you to have a good time.

When I'm on the QA line I'm really intense because I have to focus on the food, but everyone say I'm the best QA we have. So what gives? I appear gung-ho and I take demeaned by coworkers and possibly jeopardize my future, or lighten up and consent to my work ethic slip and relax. It's a duality I don't understand. I'll be graduating next to a B.S. in History (yes a BS, science courses included) and I love the food industry. HELP!

Restaurant Management – Keep A Watchful Eye On Bartender Service During Busy Hours

Restaurant Management - Keep A Watchful Eye On Bartender Service During Busy Hours
As an owner/operator or manager of a food service operation that serves liquor, wine, and/or beer, it is most important that you make sure the waiters are getting proper bar service. In my consulting work, there have been too many times when the waiters gets slowed down or thrown off balance because of poor bar service.
Now, I have been a bartender in the past, and it is not an easy job. There are many times when the waitstaff orders improperly, does not have the correct glasses set up for pouring, does not pick up drinks on time etc. This makes life hard for the bartender keeping him/her from providing proper service for the waitstaff and customers sitting at the bar. In every waiter training program, there should be intensive lessons for knowledge, preparation, technique and speed (and everything else connected to proper waiter skills). But assuming this is done, the next step is to keep an eye on the service bar, especially when the restaurant dining room has just begun to get slammed with tables. The bartender must be on the ball, and not serve slowly or improperly for this will definitely disrupt the dining room service.
My forte was always working as a waiter, and I have worked with some incredibly talented bartenders in my time. I especially remember one bartender, before the age of computers, who would see a waiter coming toward the bar and instinctively shout "What do you need?" This is the kind of restaurant service attitude and cooperation that breeds success on all counts.
It is very simple logic to understand that if it takes a long time for the waiters to obtain beverages from the bar, then their customers will wait a long time for their beverages. Poor bar service has a negative domino effect on the dining room service. If the waiters already know that it is difficult to obtain beverages efficiently from the bar, then they will also hesitate in their upselling efforts while serving tables. The extra income and trying to please the customers will not be worth dealing with poor bar service.
Again, the simple solution to this problem is for the restaurant manager running the dining room to make his/her presence known to the bartender---- especially when the dining room is experiencing the "rush." If the bartender is still unwilling to provide fast and efficient service to the waitstaff while being observed by a restaurant manager, then obviously a much larger problem exists with this employee. Either some extra bar training must be provided for this employee or maybe a little sit down powow, where the purpose of being a restaurant service employee must be explained in detail.
So, my basic advice to improve dining room service here is to keep a watchful eye on the bartenders during the very busy hours otherwise reputation and revenue will be unnecessarily lost, not to mention waitstaff morale including the incentive to upsell.

Looking for a Reputed Bartend Who Can Give a High Degree of Service?
When we decide to have a party we generally look for people who share many of our tastes. For the really important parts of our parties we usually look professionals to handle the various aspects of our parties. For serving delicious food we will call in professional chefs and waiters. To serve alcoholic drinks we usually look to bring a professional bartender. This person will be the person who will see to all aspect of the bartend.
Now in addition to serving various drinks to the guests who come to the wet bar asking for drinks, a bartend will also see that underage kids are not allowed to come and get the alcoholic drinks that are stocked in the various shelves of the bar. A bartend will sometimes show off their skill with some flair bartending. This while it is really interesting should not become the life and soul of the party.
A bartend will also have to have a wide knowledge and grasp of the many cocktails and shooters, shots and the current alcoholic favorites to the day. Having such a bartend at your party can make life easy for the host and hostess as they can be assured that their guests alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are being seen to.
Now as there are many bartenders who can give you the service that is expected you will need to find a reputed bartend who can give a high degree of service while keeping the drink service going smoothly. At your party you will expect that the bartend will see that the guests have enough drinks to keep them in a festive party mood without letting your guests turn unruly from an excess of alcohol.
For this reason you should hire a professional bartend who knows the various laws regarding alcoholic drinks. With such a bartend you can ask them to inform you if any of the guests are beginning to show signs of being drunk. In addition a bartend who will not back down in the face of an aggressive guest but deal with them quietly and smoothly is for many hosts and hostesses a godsend.
So the next time that you are planning a party you should look for a great bartend who can not only serve all of the current drink mixes but one who has other great characteristics also. These will naturally include a cheerful outlook on life, a wide knowledge and experience of alcoholic beverages and a superb manner with your guests. After all in the world of parties having a bartend who is in the know will guarantee the success of your party.
