Question by SRG: Mixed drinks?
I am not a heavy drinker but I do like to have some fun. Alcohol gives me really bad hart burn (I know this is common). I was wondering if there were any suggestions out there for mixed drinks that may not make it so bad. Thank you for your input.
I know it is that mixed drinks with milk or cream will cut back on the hard burn, but I can't find one I like.

It could be the kind of mixed drink you are drinking. I know that stuff like amaretto sour and margaritas give me heartburn.
Try drinking vodka tonics. They don't give me heartburn at all...if you are looking for something sweeter, try a malibu bay breeze or even vodka and cranberry.

It would be easier to know what you’ve had that’s given you heartburn. OJ and vodka, could be the acids from the oj. If you’re drinking a scotch or whiskey they’re a bit harsh in flavor. so go with something easy and eat a light meal. If you’ve got a delicate system no food and alchol would cause problems as well.
I’ve never had a problem so I can’t tell you which would actually cause issues or not … but be more aware of what you’re actually drinking and eating … there’s probably a clue in there somewhere

i know this isn’t really a suggestion, but my experience always has been that drinks with mixers like coke, or sprite used to give me terrible hearburn. i started steering away from that stuff, and no more heartburn. might be worth a try.

drink a glass of milk about an hour before you start drinking, it lines your stomach so you don’t get heart burn at all it works for me also don’t mix grape and grain ,grape is wine, grain is beer and whiskey/Bourbon don’t mix wine with any thing else hope this helps

It’s probably not the alcohol, as much as it is whatever you’re using to mix the alcohol with. Anything citrusy or carbonated will probably make heartburn more likely.
Margaritas are famous for causing heartburn because of the lime. If you like a Margarita (or Daiquiri, Collins, etc.), you could try ordering another flavor (banana, strawberry, mango, etc.) instead of a citrus flavor.
If you like fruit juice as a mixer, try apple, cranberry or grape juice instead of orange or grapefruit. Try to avoid anything lime, lemon, etc. If you like Coke or some other carbonated mixer, try ginger ale instead (still carbonated, but most people aren’t bothered by it).
Try a frozen creamy drink (Pina Colada, maybe?) or something with cream, maybe a White Russian? Or just a liquer on the rocks … Bailey’s, Grand Marnier, Amaretto?

stay away from anything acidic: juices (orange, cranberry, etc.) and mixes (margarita, cosmopolitan, daiquiri, etc).
try this website: http://www.webtender.com/browse.html
and search by ingredient. you can look for drinks involving milk or cream and hopefully find one you like

Try:
Bailey’s on the Rocks
Malibu Baybreeze (Coconut Rum, Pineapple & Cran Juice)
Peach Schnapps & OJ
Pink Squirrel (Creme de Noyaux, White Creme de Cacao, Light cream)
Chambord & Sprite
Grasshopper (Green Creme de Menthe, White Creme de Cacao, Light cream)
Mother Pucker (Sour Apple Pucker & Lemon/Lime Soda)
Bocce Ball (Amaretto & OJ)
Fuzzball (Peach Schnapps & Lemon/Lime Soda)
Chambord Sour (Chambord & Sour Mix)
Malibu 7 (Coconut Rum & Lemon/Lime Soda)
These drinks use liquor with a lower alcohol content as their base.
